MCC Science Day

I know this video is dead... SORRY!

The EAC has an active involvement in K-12 science outreach. Members have been
involved in curriculum development, as well as hands on participation with
local 4th and 5th grade classes. This is particularly significant as many
schools have minimized or eliminated science from their classrooms. An all to
common statement heard at MCC Science Days is “these 3 hours are the only
science our students will have all semester.”

Activities developed for Science Day include:

•Hands on interactions and information about the Life Science
Department's live animal collection, that includes several dozen species of
local Sonoran Desert fauna.

•Interactive stations that contain information on; water
conservation, recycling, ethnobotany, animal adaptation and much more.
Educating the youth on environmental, conservation, and ecolgical topics is a
high priority for the EAC.
