Dawn
Is coming on,
And I've been struggle-ing for hours
And exhausting all my powers
Through the night
Trying to write,
But inspiration has departed--
I can't get this paper started!
Got no time for writer's block--
My essay's due at eight o'clock!
I need a thesis!
I try and try to concentrate!
I need a thesis!
My brain just won't cooperate!
I try to force my mind to ponder,
But my thoughts just start to wander
Through my troubles and my traumas
And my sufferings and dramas--
But no thesis!
I've got to stop this reverie
And find a thesis,
Or else my essay will not be!
I must forget about the needy
And the wretched and the greedy.
We're so busy with our labors
That we never know our neighbors--
I'll be frank:
My mind is absolutely blank!
Think!
Come on, now: Think!
People arouse my indignation
When they lack consideration.
It's unfair--
They just don't care
About how badly they affect us
When they curse or disrespect us.
It's enough to make me shout!
But what will I write about?
I need a thesis!
Something unique that will astound!
I need a thesis!
Something that's worthy and profound.
Forget the cops who love to bust us
And they never give us justice.
And the doctors who ignore us
And the teachers who just bore us!
Pick a thesis!
Any idea that doesn't stink!
I need a thesis!
Think, think, think, think, think, think, think, think!
So many people have no feeling
About goofing off or stealing,
Or insulting or offending--
And there really is no ending:
People suck!
But still I'm absolutely stuck:
