Hello: My name is Rick Meyer and
I have been an instructor in the Mathematics Department at Mesa Community
College (MCC) since 1976. Currently, all classes I teach are Distance
Learning (internet) classes. Before you register Before you register for an
internet math class, you want to visit the website: www.mc.maricopa.edu/dept/d25/mathonline/
It is also a good idea to
read the syllabus of an instructor/class BEFORE you register. If a syllabus
is available to you, and you register for the class, you have committed to
the terms and conditions specified in that syllabus. Internet Access To take an MCC internet math
class you must have internet access: • Off campus from your work, home, or
other location. Note: you will have to
download/install plug-ins to access most MCC internet math classes. • On campus in the MCC library at the
Southern and Dobson campus. Other MCC locations may not have the necessary
plug-ins installed. Computer Platform Most MCC internet math
classes utilize MyMathLab (CourseCompass)
for the instructional aspects of the course.
Online lectures, videos, homework and exams are accessed through MyMathLab. MyMathLab's system
requirements can be found at the MyMathLab site: http://www.mymathlab.com/system.html or call their technical support group at 800 677 6337. MCC Email account Once MCC registration is
complete, Distance Learning students MUST have an MCC Email account (user
name and password). Sign up for an MCC Email account at: http://www.mc.maricopa.edu/mymcc/ Many MCC Distance Learning
classes utilize WebCT. Student may log onto WebCT at the following website using their MCC Email user
name and password: https://webct.mc.maricopa.edu/webct/entryPageIns.dowebct Once logged on, a list of
the WebCT courses the student is attached to will
appear. If you have questions or
problems, Email MCC technical support at tss@mcmail.maricopa.edu or call 480 461
7217. My Students My students are required
to use WebCT Mail for all communication with me.
Students need to log onto WebCT frequently to check
for course updates and to send/receive mail. If you are a student of
mine, read and digest all of the information on this web page. Then, from the selections provided at the
left of your screen, click the link to the syllabus of the course in which
you are enrolled. Initial Quiz After you register through
MCC, you must also register with MyMathLab. To do this, you must know the MyMathLab Course Code. You get the Course Code from
me. But not until you score 100% on an
Initial Quiz which is found at the end of the course syllabus. |
