Dear Jazz Workshop Members:

Welcome to the 2008 MCC Jazz Workshop! We are looking forward to seeing you all on Monday morning at 9 am. A general meeting and registration is scheduled for 9 am on Monday at MCC building 43 in the band room (MU14).

Since you will all be receiving college credit for your camp enrollment, we may have some additional paperwork to complete and request that you all bring 2 valid forms of government ID (ie. Drivers license and SS card) Also please take a look at www.mccband.com for anything you may have missed filling out.

• Supplies and Music: Please bring pencils and paper along with your instruments and the usual supplies. Rhythm section players you are welcome to bring a small amp with you. The college will provide most of your gear.

• A public, student jazz concert is scheduled on Friday night, July 18 at 7 pm at Rhodes Jr. High. This concert is required of all campers and is the culmination of our week!

• Camp Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. M-Thursday Friday we will release a bit earlier to get ready for the evening concert. Please take a look at the schedule online at http://www.mc.maricopa.edu/~roberthunter/DailySchedule.htm

• Lunch will be provided on Friday for all campers. M-Thursday feel free to bring some money for lunch (several restaurants across the street) or pack a lunch.

• Auditions and Theory Placement Tests: Auditions and tests occur simultaneously after our meeting on Monday Morning. Please visit

Horn players should play the melody and solo on the blues chord progression of the tune Tenor Madness(bflat blues head). Rhythm section players should comp/walk and solo on the same chart. The purpose of this is to demonstrate where you are now in your playing, there is no competition at our Workshop. If you don't have a copy of Tenor Madness, no problem. We will help you on Monday morning.
