  • Has four years of post master's experience.

  • Currently has oversight of budgeting, grant writing, automation and technical support, writes policies and procedures.

  • Previous experience included child welfare.

 

  • Susan was motivated to choose a social work career by her passion for children and families, and her desire to affect positive change.

  • She appreciates the broad view of the system and the ecological perspective of the social work profession.

 

  • Doing her job and maintaining a social work "headset"; it is sometimes difficult to keep a social work professional perspective and apply social work values.

 

  • Future needs will include addressing poverty in AZ, a state with one of the worst discrepancies between the haves and the have-nots.

  • Since social work is such a marketable degree, Susan also sees an expansion in employment outside of traditional social work, such as her current position, plus private industry.
