This course has a prerequisite: CIS133DA, Internet Web Development Level 1. If you have not completed CIS133DA, please review this information to make sure that you are in the right course.
You are currently enrolled in Fall 2009 semester, section 29279, late start 14-week course,, at Mesa Community College (MCC). I am excited that you have chosen to be a part of this learning method. This letter provides the information you need to get started on this course. Please be sure to carefully read the following instructions. You may want to print a hard copy of this letter for your reference.
Step 1. Please note that if you have a Pop-Up Blocker Program installed in your computer to block banner ad windows, you will need to turn if OFF before accessing your course. All assignments and quizzes are set to open in separate windows! To begin your course, use one of your favorite Web browsers (latest version of Mozilla, Firefox or Internet Explorer) to access the following web site. Here is your course's web site:
http://www.mc.maricopa.edu/~tabar/internet233da/info233da.htm
Step 2. While you are at this web site, please follow instructions on the link for distance learning courses to MyMCC portal to create a student account with MCC if you have not done so already. Once you have an account with MCC, you will be able to use your MCC Email, and more important, it will allow you to access to your course's lecture notes and assignments. You will need this email address to receive information from me, at least during the first few weeks of this semester, unless you have contacted me and provide me with another email address. If you want to use another email address, you can always forward your MCC Email to your regularly used email by using the forwarding tool inside your portal account.
Step 3: You will be using the same username and password from the MCC Email student account that you created earlier. Please remember that username and password are CASE sensitive. You must type them exactly as you created them, otherwise you won't be able to access your course. This username allows you to access WebCT course and the other course id MEID is for you to access your online student records.
Step 4: Once you are logged in, you should be at the Course Contents page of CIS233DA. Follow the instruction displayed on this page to begin your course work. Be sure to work through the Distance Learning Orientation and Course Orientation first before working on your course assignments. Once you complete the orientations, you may access ALL weekly assignments via the Learning Modules link on the left navigation bar of your WebCT home page.
Step 5: Please use the internal email system inside WebCT to communicate with me for any questions relating to your course. If you are using an external email, always include your course name and the section numbers of your course in the subject line in ALL your emails to me. For example: CIS233DA, section 29279. This will help speed up my reply to you. Please send your email to my e-mail address: tabar@mesacc.edu when using an external email program. You may also call me at my office phone: 480-461-7465 to talk to me during my office hours or to leave me a voice mail for me to return your call. Don't forget to also leave your phone numbers, your name and course name with your voice mail message.
Step 6. Please send me an email after you have read this welcome letter to let me know that you have received this information. Also, please try to stay in touch with me regularly via your e-mail, especially when you have problems or concerns about your progress. Even though this is an online course, please feel free to stop by my office and visit me on campus when you feel the need to meet with me face to face, or just to say hi!
Again, welcome to CIS233DA online course. I sincerely hope that your learning experience will be a positive one and am looking forward to working with you this semester.
